HI, I've been using a maestro card and a Visa card for years in Sri Lanka and never had a problem with either the banks or the machines.. I did notice on my last trip, about 6 weeks ago, that some machines were limited to 20,000 rupees .
I went in to the bank and explained what had happened and the clerk wobbled his head, just the way most Sri Lankans do,and said, why on earth you wanted to have 20,000 rupees on you? Anyway, aside that we never had any difficulties getting money out of a cash machines or finding one .
