Jan 18, 2012· If someone is interested in a project, I have about 90% of a K.O. Lee air spindle head for grinding end mills. What's missing is the base with the tilt lever to move the end mill to and from the wheel. The original collets have been replaced by $150 worth of precision bushings (which is what I'd sell it for). The air spindle seems to work well.

End mills sometimes chip on the end of a flute and one way to continue using them is to make a small facet at 30° to 45° on the end of the flute (similar to the SPA on drills noted above). The result won't cut sharp 90° corners but apparently lasts considerably longer than an acute corner so this is sometimes done deliberately during sharpening.

Sep 25, 2012· I haven't figured out if I can sharpen end mills to be center cutting or not, but I have sucessfully sharpened a number of gashed mills. Be really careful grinding the secondary relief as there isn't much meat holding the fixture to the chuck. I've had it move screwing up the end mill, the grinding wheel and dinging the chuck.
