By Cooper Inveen FREETOWN, Sept 20 (Reuters) - SL Mining, a subsidiary of U.S. commodity trader Gerald Group, will suspend iron ore mining operations in Sierra Leone over a dispute with the government about royalty payments, a company letter seen by Reuters showed on Friday.

The government of Sierra Leone is accusing the company of breach of contract and reneging on its financial obligation to the government, including non-payment of royalties, a claim the company denies.
