Jan 26, 2010· I have a tiny Atlas 618 bench lathe and often haunt ebay for deals on parts and tooling. Well I often see drawbar and milling collets offered. They are regulary over $150 bucks and that's for used conditon. Seems like someone could easily make the draw bar if they have the lathe, and the import collets are way cheaper brand new.
Mar 06, 2007· Don't count on an Atlas milling machine to be capable of doing much work in any reasonable length of time,especially in steel.They work well in brass,and make a good little mill for clock makers.They are just too light.Something like a small Burke that 2 guys can move is much more of a real machine.This is my opinion,having had both mills in my beginning .

Feb 09, 2013· The potential to wreck some very hard to find Atlas mill parts is too great. I can do a lot of hand cranking rather that smashing things up! The nice thing about this unit is it has its own motor so I'm not wearing out the Atlas drive system when vertical milling which in my opinion is a big plus compared to many other units.
