Jul 24, 2014· I am having the same issue. I just replaced the drive belt as I do every year and never had this problem before. Belt jumps off at clutch pulley where there are TWO keepers. The keeper towards the front of the tractor rubs slightly on the V portion of the belt the other I can slip a credit card between the keeper and the belt.

Oct 04, 2013· Remember you can drive the machine from two directions- right or left looking at the pulley. Imagine no twist in the belt drive the mill. If you drove the mill from the other side, to keep turning the same direction, the tractor would have to be upside down. (imagine raising the tractor and belt and swinging thru 180* arc to the other side.)

The other rear pulley tractors that come to mind would require significantly more effort to design stable mounts unless struts were extended to the drawbar (making it less useful during non-grinding operations). We opted to try using the flat belt pulley instead of replacing it with a v-belt pulley compatible with the pulley on the grinder.

Recently, just for old times sake, I replaced the PTO shaft with a stub shaft and 10" wide by 24" diameter flat belt pulley. This unit can be detached in a few minutes and converted back to PTO drive. Now any flat belt power unit/tractor can drive the mill. An example of a 1947 G John as the drive unit.
My GT-6000 tractor had developed some hesitation and loss of forward drive power. Ended up that it needed new drive belt. There are two nylon pulleys which were both okay but I figured that while I was at it, since I had to drop the deck, pull the belt and so forth, I'd replace both 'non-maintenance' nylon pulleys including this one.
